about
The name of blog comes from this song, written about the store, colette, in Paris.
Reasoning behind this:
- my name is Colette
- this store captures the essence of me; it has the spirit of spontaneity and individualism. It has extremely unique items that are often made exclusively in collaboration with the boutique. It embodies fashion, joie de vivre, art, culture, and a little of that je ne sais quoi.
- I didn’t discover the catchy song until last summer, when I spent two weeks with the family of the lovely Cléo-Nikita (her amazing photo blog is here). She and her friends would always sing it around me and I loved it.
- I think I was born in the wrong country.
I really can never make up my mind and like to dabble in a little bit of everything. Indecision is one of my best friends and worst enemies. Some things that I enjoy: photography (film and digital, see my flickr page), piano, finding new music, learning French and Spanish, literature, art, The New York Times, cooking, driving.
I believe that appreciating the littlest things instead of focusing on the bigger problems can make life better. Some things that often do that for me are: a smile or nice conversation with a stranger, frozen yogurt, the sunshine in my eyelashes, the intricate shadows of the trees, or a pleasant breeze wrapping itself around me.
I want to experience the world.
